Cast: Vijay Sethupathy, T Rajendar, Madonna Sebastian
Music: Hip Hop Thamizha
Director: KV Anand

Album Analysis:
Boomerang
Singers: Hiphop Thamizha, Velmurugan, Nikita Gandhi, Kaushik Krish
Aadhi delivers a party track with ‘Boomerang’ which has slightly different arrangements from the regular party numbers. The song has a strong EDM base and the use of voices from different spectrum makes this song interesting. The ‘enjoymentum’ segment is the catchiest part of the entire track.

Happy New Year
Singers: T Rajendar, Hiphop Thamizha, Madonna Sebastian
Disappointing track! ‘Happy New Year’ was used as the movie’s promo track even a month before its complete audio launch. The track which has vocals from Aadhi as well as T Rajendar, is loud, jarring and is aimed at the masses. The hookline of the track fails to get going on the listeners and the tune meanders as the track progresses.

Mathurangalam
Singers: Kaber Vasuki, Kids Chorus
‘Mathurangalaam’ is a funny track with interesting lyrics and one could guess this is for a montage situation. The song has a retro-ish feel to it and that has been fused cleverly with modern arrangements like electric guitar, saxophones. Not the sing along type as it is more visual oriented.

Oxygen
Singers: Hiphop Thamizha, Sudharshan Ashok
‘Oxygen’ is almost Bruno Mars-ish in its approach. Sudharshan nails it with his fluttery rendition and Aadhi takes care of the chorus and humming bits. The tune is very fresh and the westernized arrangements make this track quite peppy and interesting to listen to.

Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai
Singers: Hiphop Thamizha, Anthony Dasan, Padmalatha, Georgina Mathew
Probably the best song of the album! ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’ has a varied bunch of arrangements ranging from EDM to Dubstep and the song plays out as a fusion. The ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’ classic hookline gets a fresh makeover here and is pretty addictive. The female hymns during the interludes only make the song more effective.

On the whole, ‘Kavan’ is a very different KV Anand album without his regular associate Harris Jayaraj. Hiphop Aadhi surprises us with two terrific songs in ‘Oxygen’ & ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’.

Picks from the album: Theeratha Vilayattu, Oxygen
Album Verdict: Aadhi delivers an interesting album
