In his recent statement, Surya has lauded the dignified protest of youngsters against the Jallikattu ban. “Till now words like ‘Culture’, ‘Identity’ and ‘History’ were only used by scholars and leaders but now Jallikattu has become a reason for youngsters, students and general public to speak about our culture, identity and tradition”, said Suriya.
The actor satirically thanked everyone, who were instrumental in imposing the ban for Jallikattu and united youngsters for a common cause. “Self-interested protests will always have truth. PETA organization, which won the legal proceedings to impose ban for Jallikattu has lost its case in people’s court. Irony is that the same organization is trying to extinct the country bull breed but blames that bulls get tortured in Jallikattu”, added Suriya.
“Rules and Regulations are formed only for people so we should not use them to hurt our own sentiments. At this juncture, I appreciate thousands of youngsters, who are expressing the plight of Tamil community through their dignified protests”, said the Singam actor.
“I’m sure, our protest will bring back Jallikattu but we should not stop it here. Whenever we come across a threat for our culture and identity, we should stay together and raise our voice”, concluded Suriya.
