Prolific Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer and Hyderabad pace bowler Mohammed Siraj have been called up for the three T20 internationals against New Zealand, which starts from November 1.
Veteran pacer Ashish Nehra has also been named in the India squad. Nehra has been picked only for the first T20I and it will be his farewell game. However, whether Nehra will be included in the playing XI completely depends on the team management.
Chief selector MSK Prasad said that Iyer has been rewarded purely on the basis on his current form.
"Shreyas has been performing in T20s and first-class games. We will continue with him and nurture him,” said Prasad.
In his last 10 innings, Iyer has scored two centuries and three fifties and that was enough for the selectors to include him in the squad.
